2 Stars | Amazon + Goodreads | Monster Smut Standalone

Don’t take Honeysuckles too seriously otherwise, you might cry.

“All I know is that I have to be near her. I have to know what she’s doing at all times. Her life from this moment on will never be the same. She’ll never walk alone again. I’ll be her shadow, and in the night, I’ll be her dark. I’ll consume her so she never knows loneliness again.”

Honeysuckles is a crazed fever dream with cringeworthy sex, murder, and I guess, love. It’s supposedly a monster romance, but really it’s just smut and left me with an almost permanent frown on my face from the amount of cringe I endured while reading every strange page.

I kind of knew what I was getting into, I guess, but that was just bananas. After my cousin read this one, and quietly loved it, I knew I needed to pop it up my tbr, and well, yeah, Honeysuckles is just bananas. I was a cringing mess while I read this entire book, even while writing this review I found my face scrunching up thinking about what I just read.

I still finished it, but yeah, that was a hell of a fever dream.

The book starts off with the vivid imagery of the torture that Creed, our MMC, is enduring as he is forced into becoming a genetic juggernaut of a monster. With not one, not two, but five strands of DNA shifting his body into monstrous proportions and I mean, every part of him is drastically changed. Every. Part. *cringing*

Creed is now a monster with the traits of a werewolf, a dragon, a vampire, a snake, and a cephalopod, because why be one monster when you can be five monsters all rolled into one. This was a lot. Like, holy, wow, a lot. I mean for reals, this man is a walking talking trauma victim.

When he smells his mate, Demi, it is full-throttle crazy.

Creed is messed up. In my opinion, irredeemably messed up, he stalks the absolute shit out of Demi, watches her in states of undress, puts cameras in her home, drugs her, rapes her, impregnates her, pees in her perfume, and jacks off in her bottle of lotion so that she carries his scent around with her at all times, and kills absolutely anyone he perceives as a threat to her and his obsessive priorities – like knocking her up. He’s batshit insane.

This is a book that parades itself as a monster romance, but honestly, like I said before – in my opinion – is just pure smut, with little to no plot. If this is the kind of romance you are looking for then good for you, it was not my cup of tea.

There is monster peen made for all the lovers of monster fudging, tentacles – all the strange tentacle peen. There are copious amounts of stalking, killing, rape, somnophilia, birth control tampering, breeding, more murder, more rape/somnophilia, mating, more weird sex, a semi-plot that left me blasé because let us be honest – the sex is the plot, and of course, a baby.

All in all, I am rating this at two stars because I honestly couldn’t stop reading, I needed to see how it would end and how much more cringeworthy it would become. I did not however have a good time, I think I gained more frown lines and I’m kind of grossed out by what I just read.

Also, if you made it this far, xo, sorry it was so long.
