Edit: So, I apparently wrote this review two years ago and then I never posted it. So I thought I’d post it now. It’s still a really great book!

One of my favorite books of 2024. The moment this is available in paperback, it is going in my cart and living on my shelf. One of the few times a hyped book lived up to the hype for me.

Wow. The Blackened Blade had me in a chokehold, one of those books that deserves every bit of hype it’s received. There is something about the story and the writing that just sucked me in and refused to let me go. I consumed this book, it consumed me, when I wasn’t reading it, I was thinking about it. It’s just sooooo good. One of my favorites of 2024.

What if you died in your mid-to late twenties and woke up as a teenager again? Well, Micai gets to find out, because when she dies in a supernatural prison, she wakes up in the body of her younger self. Before she was weak, she was bullied, she was alone. . .this time, she isn’t going to take any of it on the nose. When you’ve been through hell, you have nothing else to lose.

Honestly, I can’t wait to find out why she was sent back. How was she sent back? And what is actually going on? So many questions.

I loved Micai, she’s a fighter that doesn’t give up, with all of her trauma she just keeps going. Her character arc is something I am here for, I can not wait to see her glow up even more than she already did in this book. Add in the male characters and the absolute stunning potential to come between her and the guys that populate her world, I am hooked.

I couldn’t pick a favorite of the male characters, they’re each so delicious in their own way. I have ideas and theories for who she’ll end up with but honestly I am okay with whatever Isla Davon comes up with. The book does end on a cliffhanger that is. . .ugh, I’m not crying, you’re crying. . .but at the same time, I think it’s going to be fine. It’ll be fine, right? Right?

Anyways, highly highly recommend The Blackened Blade, I’ve already preordered the next book and now I wait to see what happens next.
