Hello Fellow Bibliophiles!
My name is Echo, welcome to my little home on the great big wild west that is the internet.
I’m just a neurodivergent Alaskan girlie who lives with chronic illness and pain, I’m super fun at dinner parties. Promise.
I read books, a lot of books. Like, a lot, a lot.
As a neurodivergent with chornic pain and illness, mix that in with a world that is a messy place that is getting louder and louder and I turn to books. I’ve always turned to books
While the world, my brain and my body set itself on fire, I’m over here dissociating one book at a time.
When it comes to politics, world issues, or other disastrous travesties, I will not be speaking about any of it on my blog or any of my socials. It is not because I don’t care, it’s not because I don’t think reading is political or any other thing that can be associated with those who choose to be quiet, it’s because in my daily life I do what I can about the things that matter to me, I speak up, I stay informed. But here in booklandia, I choose joy and peace and a place to not be mired in the daily grind. I choose to talk about the things I love.
So, don’t expect me to say anything about anything except books and music and movies and tv and sometimes pop culture that is funny or bookish. There is no head in the sand action happening here, I just need a space to not focus on any of the hardness. I just wanted to clarify my point on this as I have seen a whole lot of discourse in the negative about those who are perceived as being un-vocal the way that others think they should be. You don’t know what people choose to do in there daily real life lives. I actually ended up taking about a year off of blogging and being on IG because of the state of the world and the strength with which chaos was ensuing in my once happy place – booklandia.
I am anti-AI – 100%. I do use emdashes – you will pry them from my cold unalived fingers.
Most of my photographs if they arent taken of my personal collection of books, etc. are ones that I have used from free photography sites like Unsplash and Pexels, both of which are royalty free and anti-AI.
I detest love triangles and you’ll be hard pressed to find me reccomending a book with one as a main focus of the romance. Give me why choose and/or reverse harem, any day, every day.
Romance is my favorite. Period. End of. I do not like to read or recommend books with depressing awful terrible horrible unhappily ever after endings.
Smut is fine in books, I don’t hunt out spicy though. I’m not a huge closed door romance reader, I won’t walk away from a book because of it and sometimes will intentionally pick books without spice, but I also don’t only or intentionally only read books with spice. For me I’m in it for the push and the pull, the banter, the enemies becoming lovers, the relationship goals, the swoon, the adventure, the world building. Well done spice is just added sprinkles on a great sundae.
I’m a vibe reader, completely. Did I love it? Was I giddy? Did my feet kick? My heart race? Goosebumps? Obsession? Does this ebook need a trophy copy for the shelf? Vibes. I’m all about the vibes.
My rating system is as follows below – it’s still all vibes.
1 Star – I hated this
2 Stars – I didn’t like it
3 Stars – I liked it
4 Stars – I really liked it
5 Stars – I LOVED it
Okay, I think I’ve rambled on enough. Thank you for hanging out with me. I hope you stick around, check out my reviews, book recs and other book-centric posts. I’d love to chat with you, so please always feel free to drop a comment, email or DM if you are so inclined.
xo
